~*Criminal Minds Night - Marathon
So my friend and I decided that throughout the school year we would watch the ENTIRE series of Criminal Minds (1-5); where we decided to call it 'Criminal Minds Night'.
~* Kicked off the marathon by purchasing a cake (pictured above).
~* First night watched episodes 1 and 2 of Season 1
~* At this point we have watched episodes 1,2, 3, 4 & 5 (so we still have a long way to go).
As you can see the cake itself has 'Criminal Minds Night' written on it where yes I did have to ask someone to put it on (which was slightly embarrassing ...lol!) However, the funniest thing happened when I was going through the check out; the lady noticing the cake asked me if it was my birthday where I said no...then she looked at the cake where she let out a laugh...she then said I've seen so many things written on cakes but never this. I then filled her in on the 'Criminal Minds Night' marathon that my friend and I planned where she let out another laugh and said she had to tell her husband about this b/c he loved Criminal Minds!!

~*Random SNL clip of the Week!!
Inside the Actor's Studio: SNL Spoof.
Pictured above is Will Ferrell (James Lipton) with 'guest' Alec Baldwin.
From this particular spoof came the infamous word 'Scrumtrulescent'. Unfortunately I could not find a video that had the skit in it's entirety, all I could find was a sound bit of Will Ferrell pronouncing the word:

~*Criminal Minds: Good Bye JJ !!
If you're a BIG Criminal Minds fan (like me) you would know that the character JJ (A.J. Cook) left the BAU team in the episode that aired this past Wednesday. Although, the news of her 'exit' from the show was plastered all over the internet it did not make it any easier to watch JJ leave. Apparently the company had to perform some cutbacks due to financial reasons (as it is always the case). A.J.'s character wasn't the only one who was affected by this cutback but Paget Brewster's character (Emily Prentiss) is only going to appear in ten episodes of Season 6. In my opinion I'm not really sad to hear that Agent Prentiss' time is being cutback because well I'm not fond of her and in all honesty I wish it was her who left and not JJ. Although, all of the characters on the BAU are of significance I truly believe that JJ had an integral role; being the BAU's liaison (communicating with the media). She's the one that lets the outside world know what is going on with that specific case and she answers any questions that they may have to the best of her ability. With that in mind she is a very charismatic person, she obviously has good people skills and she displays empathy/sympathy towards the victims. All of these qualities that I just listed aren't really shown by the other characters; Emily may be able to do her job (but her time is being cutback), Reid would just annoy every one with his randomness (dragging out his answers), Hotch well he isn't really approachable, Rossi is just plain intellectual and Morgan would most likely just get pissed off. Anyways, as you can probably tell I am upset that JJ left!

~*Glee: Britney Spears Episode
Ah Glee; a show that I have heard so much about but haven't really gotten in to. In fact the very first episode that I ever watched of Glee was the one that aired this past Tuesday (the Britney one) and I'll admit I won't be watching it again unless they're doing an episode on one of my faves. In all honesty I found the show to be I don't know...eccentric..I mean sitting in the dentist chair and falling asleep then breaking out in to a Britney song is quite strange. The show itself is supposed to be a comedy but I just wasn't feeling it (to be fair I have just watched one episode). Anyways, enough blabber about the show in general and more focus on the Britney episode. The Britney songs that were sung/performed in the episode were: Me Against the Music, Slave 4 U, Baby One More Time, Toxic and Stronger. In my opinion Toxic and Stronger were the best ones while Slave 4 U didn't really vibe well with me. I liked the twist that they did with Stronger; instead of a female character singing it they had a male character do it (it was interesting to hear a guy sing this song). I'm glad the character (Artie) did a good job on Stronger because it's one of my fave Britney songs. The other performance that I was quite fond of was Toxic, which is a song of Britney's that I don't really like all that much but the Glee cast did an amazing job on it, perhaps better than Brit herself. (I posted the performance of Toxic down below). During the episode Britney herself made a few cameos; as a teacher, a cheerleader and as 'Madonna'. Her cameos were very small but were cute (not all too funny but still is was good to see her). One thing that I have to say is that Britney is looking A LOT better than she has been in the past - but you have to admit make up and editing do perform miracles. All in all the episode was a good one and it was really nice to hear the 'vintage' Britney again, which is something that I really miss.

~*Album Collection: Christina Aguilera
Since coming on to the music scene in 1999 Christina Aguilera has put out 4 studio albums, plus one spanish album, a Christmas album and a Greatest Hits album. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions as to which album is her greatest piece of work (Stripped being the fave), but I decided to share with you my ranking of her albums (excluding the Spanish, Christmas & Greatest Hits albums).
{Bi~On~ic}: I have put the latest effort by Xtina on top because it's one of the very few CDs that I can actually listen to in its entirety plus it's awesome!! It's a very experimental sound for Christina; futuristic and all that good stuff, but of course there are the breath taking ballads, which she is known for. My favourite ballads on Bionic are; 'Lift Me Up' and 'Stronger Than Ever'...both songs are quite moving and anyone can relate to them. I love 'Stronger Than Ever' so much that it may just be my favourite song by her.
Back to Basics: This happens to be the third album that Xtina put out (i.e. before Bionic) and just like the title suggests she went back to basics on it. Xtina describes the album as "a throwback to the 20s, 30s, and 40s style jazz, blues and soul music but with a modern twist". This album brought Xtina a lot of success including a sold out world tour. 'Candyman' and 'Slow Down Baby' have to be the standout tracks for me a long with the ballad, 'Hurt'. I also have to say that this album produced the best music videos from her; 'Hurt' and 'Candyman'.
Stripped: Okay so this is the album that MANY Xtina fans and critics deem as her best piece of work, however, despite it being really good I wouldn't call it her best one. It is a very revealing and personal album (hence the name-Stripped) which takes the listener in to some of her darker times. Perhaps this is why so many people like it; you get to see who the real Xtina is. It's not that I hate this album because I don't it's just not as happy as her third and fourth albums, with that said I need to be in the right mood to listen to the album in its entirety. However, some of her biggest hits have come from this album like; 'Fighter' and the Grammy award winning; 'Beautiful' which has changed so many people's lives.
Christina Aguilera: Well what can I say this was her very first piece of work which was manufactured in to a collection of bubble -gum pop songs, which clearly isn't who Xtina really is. However, we can not forget about the song that put her on the charts; 'Genie In a Bottle' and she did beat out the very popular Britney Spears at the 2000 Grammy Awards for 'Best New Artist' with only this album under her belt. So, one should not discard of this album completely because this was the album that began her very successful career in the music industry.

~*The Polar Bear Prof.
Some of you may think that the title is a bit strange but those of you who know the Professor that I am referring to would get it right a way. Anyway, there is a Professor at the University that I'm attending that is famous for his off the topic stories and for his 'out there' personality. Though he teaches such subjects as Canadian Criminal Justice System and Penal Government & Federal Imprisonment, one should not expect this Professor to teach you much as the Prof gets off track placing the responsibility of learning about the topic exclusively on to the student. Many of the students know this about the Prof. so they don't go in with high expectations; most students take the Profs classes for the entertainment value and for a somewhat easy A. Last year I ended up having this Professor for one of the Core Requirements for a major in Criminology and well I learned quickly that this was going to be very different from my other classes. The Professor would spend maybe the first ten minutes of each class on something that was actually related to the course but then the Prof would go off track once a student mentioned something that would make him remember a specific event in his life. The story/event that sticks out the most to just about all of the students is the time where he shared with the class his adventures up North (Canada). He was apparently ice fishing where all of a sudden a polar bear appeared and started to chase him; hence the title 'Polar Bear Prof.' When someone mentions the Profs' name to another student the common question that they get is; "Is that the one that tells stories about polar bears?"
The whole point of this posting is that I have this Prof. again and I promised one of my friends that I would keep her updated about what happens in each class and what stories he happens to share. I've only had his class twice so far as it is just the beginning of the school year and well he hasn't really said many far out there things but that will soon change. Today, however, he did mention something that was a bit funny- we were talking about how music can influence violent behaviour in people where one student pointed out that from his experience as a bar tender he found that if a song would come on like 'the ace of spades' the boys would start jumping up and down & bumping in to others (as the music is getting them pumped up); when all of a sudden someone would accidentally knock someone's beer on to the floor which starts a brawl. However, he said when a song such as Justin Bieber is playing every thing/one is calm. With that the Prof. asked the class, "Well yeah but who here actually listens to the Biebs?" I just found this quite funny as Justin Bieber is very well known and this fifty plus year old man is calling him the 'Biebs' which many of his fans call him.
I will be posting stories about the Polar Bear Prof every week where I can promise you that it will get a lot more interesting as the time goes on and well the class that I am taking with this Prof. is for the full year so yeah..stay tuned....

A Review of Christina Aguilera's Bionic (Deluxe Edition)
I know her album came out over two months ago but I wanted to get a real feel of the album before I even thought about writing a review. With that said I obviously have the album and I have listened to it as a whole many times, so this is actually a true review based on its entirety and not just on a 30 second clip of each song, which IMO based on most of the reviews on Bionic out there they've only listened to the very short clips. I must admit that when I listened to the 30 second clips of each song I was a bit worried and I thought all of the critics were right about this album not being good at all, however, I'm glad to say that Christina proved me wrong, for the 30 second clips don't do the album any justice. I've reviewed all of the songs on the Bionic album (Deluxe Edition) down below marking each song out of five and then I end it with the score of the entire album.
Bionic: I really like this song it's very futuristic and just plain fun. For some reason though I always think of Star Wars when listening to it, which is weird I know. Out of all of the songs I think this song was a good choice to begin the album with. Despite the fact that I like it I don't think it would do well as a single as it is very different from what's out there and in the music industry it seems like different is considered to be a bad thing. 4/5
Not Myself Tonight: As we all know this was the first single from Bionic and well we all know how that worked out...not good. I think it's too bad that it didn't do better on the charts because it's a very catchy song. However, I think the music video killed it for her with all of the stupid comparisons and the in your face sexuality. With that said there are a lot of music videos out there that are just as sexual and well I don't hear anyone complaining about them. 4.5/5
Woohoo: This song may be too much for people to handle because it's very sexual and it's sung by a woman. I think it's funny how society reacts when a woman is so open about their sexuality; shocked and disgusted. However, I'm glad that Christina put a song like this out there because it's time for women to be able to express their sexuality without shame from society. The one complaint about this song is that it's a little long in length and I've found a better version of it on the internet. 3.5/5
Elastic Love: This is one of my fave songs on the album it's so very different from her previous work. It's very catchy and believe me you will have it stuck in your head after hearing it. I think this should be a single as people are already taking a liking to it..(It's #12 on the most played songs of the year on Amazon). 5/5
Desnudate: I really love this song as well and it's a strong contender for being the next single. I really like the Spanish lyrics in this song as it makes it even sexier. However, I'm pretty sure this song will strike up some comparisons as I've already read someone saying that it's like Britney Spears 'Naked' (which he/she thinks is better). I have Britney's album and it's not like Christina's 'Desnudate' at all and it's definitely not better. 4.5/5
Love & Glamour (intro)/ Glam: I'm not a very huge fan of song intros, however, the intro to Glam is short enough that it doesn't bother me as much. At first I found this song to be extremely boring but now after listening to it many times I do quite like it. I think it's a song that not everyone is going to like at first (like me) but after awhile they will start to come around. It starts off slow at the beginning but it picks up near the end when Christina hits that long note. 4/5
Prima Donna: This song is another personal fave of mine and from what I've been reading a lot of the other Christina fans like it as well. It's the kind of song that you would listen to while getting ready for a night out. During the song it does sound like L'il John is in the background but I'm not positive on that one. I really can't wait to see Christina performing Prima Donna as it would be epic! 5/5
Morning Dessert intro/sex for breakfast: Hmm I really don't think this intro was necessary, I skip it every time. The song although it's not horrible by any means it is a song on the album that I don't listen to too often. When I first heard the title; sex for breakfast I thought it was going to be an upbeat song but it's sort of in between being slow and fast. 3/5
Lift Me Up: I have nothing bad to say about this song. It's one of my fave songs and it always brings a tear to my eyes. What I like most about this song is that everyone can relate to it in one way or another and I think that's a very important part to being a great artist. She can do so many things with this song live like having a choir in the background or some violin players; which would make this song even more amazing. 5/5
My heart intro/All I need: I have to be honest these are two tracks that I skip a lot. The intro is very sweet as is the song but I tend not to like songs that are about the particular artists baby which may be in part due to the fact that I don't have a baby myself so my feeling would probably change after I do. However, All I Need is a song that I can listen to in its entirety without cringing. 3/5
I Am: At first I didn't know what all of the fuss was about regarding this song but after giving it a few listens I must say that I do enjoy it. In fact there are many times when I catch myself singing the lyrics. I really love her voice in this song; it's just so soft and calming. 4.5/5
You Lost Me: Another amazing song that has an amazing music video to go with it. Out of all of the songs on this album I think this one showcases her voice the most. When 'You Lost Me' was first released it generated a lot of buzz from the critics and other celebrities- Pink and Adam Lambert to name a few and it seems to be doing okay on the charts (currently placing on the BB Dance/Club Play Songs & Adult Contemporary charts). It is quite possible that this song could earn Christina her 5th Grammy. 5/5
I Hate Boys: This is a very upbeat and fun song which I think should have been released as a summer single. It is ,however, attacking the opposite sex which people of course can find offensive but as us girls know there is always a point in our lives where we are totally fed up with boys. 4/5
My Girls: I really quite enjoy this song but I know that other people find it to be quite cheesy. However, I think it's a very fun girl power song and it's one song that will be stuck in your head like it or not. 4/5
Vanity: I LOVE this song to pieces. You are automatically hooked on the song upon listening to it with its humorous lyrics proclaiming Christina's love for herself. There are certain lyrics of the song that stand out; the opening (I'm not Cocky I Just Love Myself, bitch), (and now I take myself to be my lawfully wedded bitch), and the ending (Let Us Not Forget Who Owns The Throne). When I hear Christina singing the end I just imagine her stomping over all of the other pop princesses. The only complaint is when Max replies, 'You are Mommy' at the very end which a lot of people find cute (and it is) but I think it takes away from the fierceness of the song. 5/5
~* Singles on the Deluxe Edition *~
Monday Morning: I find this song to be quite mellow and very addictive . You will have this song stuck in your head especially the 'nani, naki, nana, nani, naki, nana' part. This song should have been part of the standard edition instead of only on the deluxe edition seeing that it is a popular song. 4/5
Bobblehead: This is actually kind of funny as it pokes fun at stupid girls. When I hear this song for some reason Paris Hilton comes to mind as she isn't the brightest crayon in the box. The lyrics of this song prove that Christina can't stand 'simple' girls which is a major pet peeve of mine too. Quite a bit of people like this song but there are also some who find it annoying which I can understand because it's somewhat repetitive. I think it was a wise choice for it to just be on the deluxe edition. 3/5
Birds of Prey: All I can say about this song is wow! It's very different from Christina's previous work but in this case that's a good thing. Whenever I listen to this song I feel like I'm lost in a fantasy world. A lot of people, celebrities included really like this song which is one of the reasons why it should have been on the standard album as well. 5/5
Stronger Than Ever: This has to be my all time favourite Christina ballad. Her voice is spectacular in this song and everyone can relate to the lyrics. I think this could have been a strong Grammy contender for her but unfortunately it's only on the Deluxe Edition and I never heard of an artist releasing a single that was just on the deluxe edition. 5/5
Despite the unjustified negativity surrounding Bionic it's a really strong album in fact it's my favourite one by Christina Aguilera. As a whole I give the album a score of 4.5/5. I think it would have been perfect if some of the songs on the deluxe edition were included on the standard edition (Monday Morning, Birds of Prey & Stronger Than Ever).

Hey,
I've decided to create this blog so I could get the many things going on in my head off my chest. There isn't really a central theme to this blog it's all just going to be totally random (Randomness rocks my world). I know I'm going to come off as opinionated and not every one is going to agree with me but hey it's my blog :P I am open to hearing what others think about any one of my blog posts so feel free to express your opinions. Happy reading :)
xoxo
